Colin Semple has over 30 years of experience in clinical laboratories ranging from general duty work in small community hospitals to managing laboratory operations at a large multi-site tertiary care centre.  In addition to teaching Clinical Microbiology at the Michener Institute, Colin has worked in all areas of pathology as a Registered Technologist, and has attained his ART in Clinical Microbiology.
 
Colin has worked with many of the leading pathologists and technologists in the province and has also been involved with special projects at the Provincial Laboratory Coordinating Office (PLCO).
 
 
 
Nav Rakhar BSc, RRT
Accreditation and Research Development Officer
Neurodiagnostics, Polysomnography and Pulmonary Function
 
As an Accreditation and Research Development Officer for Pulmonary Function, Polysomnography and Neurodiagnostics, Nav Rakhra is responsible for conducting research and evaluating, maintaining and developing the DAP standards for the three programs. His duties also include the assessment of new facilities / new services for the purpose of awarding Provisional Accreditation.

Before joining Diagnostic Accreditation Program, Nav worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Vancouver General Hospital where he held the position of Supervisor for Pulmonary Function, Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program and Bronchoscopy. His additional involvement in clinical research focused on Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.  
 
Nav completed his Bachelors of Science in Biology at the Simon Fraser University and his Registartion as a Respiratory Therapist at the Thompson Rivers University. Also, his background in Frontline Leadership has shown his dedication and ongoing commitment to effective leadership and management, having implemented Quality Control initiatives for pulmonary diagnostics at Vancouver General Hospital.
 
 
 
Derek Martinig RTNM, BSc, MHA

Diagnostic Imaging
 
As an Accreditation Research and Development Officer for Diagnostic Imaging, Derek Martinig is responsible for conducting research and evaluating, maintaining and developing the DAP standards for the program. His duties also include the assessment of new facilities and new services for the purpose of awarding Provisional Accreditation. In 2010-2011, Derek worked as a DAP Accreditation Assessment Officer in Diagnostic Imaging.
 
Prior to joining the Diagnostic Accreditation Program, Derek worked in public and private healthcare settings as a Registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist. He also has clinical experience in Bone Densitometry, Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and as a radiopharmacist. 
 
Derek holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and has recently completed his Masters of Health Administration at the University of British Columbia. While attending UBC to complete his masters, Derek received the Lloyd F. Detwiller prize for academic excellence.
