In addition to having a medical license from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia, physicians must be credentialled by the Diagnostic Accreditation Program to perform some diagnostic tests/procedures/studies referred to as “restricted services”. If a physician does not have credentialing from the DAP, they are not permitted to perform the restricted services. Additionally, it is a requirement of the Medical Services Plan (MSP) that a physician must be credentialed by the DAP to be eligible for payment of services.
UBC graduates are also required to complete the DAP Credentialing process.
The DAP credentialing process ensures that the physician applicant is qualified to perform the restricted service. The DAP is not involved in utilization or MSP billing issues. Please also note, credentialing by the DAP does not guarantee that a physician will be permitted to bill for these services. Please direct any inquiries related to billing or payment for services to the Medical Service Plan – Diagnostic Facility Administrator.
The credentialing process starts with completion of an application form, submission of supporting documentation, and payment of associated fees. Once these have been received by the DAP, the application and supporting documentation will be reviewed.
